Breaking Form at Kinzie street entrance

The award-winning Breaking Form modular carpet collection designed by Mac Stopa in collaboration with the Mohawk Group was introduced at NeoCon 2014, North America’s largest design exposition for commercial interiors. Over 40,000 people from more than 78 countries attended the show from June 9 – 11. Architects, designers and other industry professionals visited the Mohawk Group’s third floor showroom at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago for the launching of the Mohawk Group’s never-before-seen Breaking Form collection. With Breaking Form, Mac successfully transforms the floor – a two-dimensional product – into something three-dimensional. The collection received the Best of NeoCon Editors’ Choice Award for modular carpet, which was announced on Monday, June 9 at the Best of NeoCon Awards Breakfast hosted by Contract magazine. In addition to the Mohawk showroom, Breaking Form was exhibited during NeoCon at the Kinzie Street entrance to the Merchandise Mart and in the building’s main elevator banks.

Salone del Mobile 2014, Milan, Italy

03_Hybrid collection by Mac Stopa for Casali

The Hybrid Collection by Mac Stopa for Casali was introduced during Salone del Mobile 2014 in Milan. The Hybrid Collection featuring three-dimensional glass has its genesis in the synergy between Mac’s passion for creating innovative design based on digital geometries and organic random geometries created by nature and the use of high technology in production and high quality craftsmanship of Italian glass manufacturer Casali. The transparency on glass coordinated with the 3D patterns creates a three-dimensional spherical effect with morphed movement producing multiple artistic expressions. The Hybrid Collection was recognized as being one of the most innovative products exhibited at the show.

Mac’s Table and the Tako chair designed by Mac Stopa for Tonon also debuted at Salone del Mobile 2014. Mac’s Table is an innovative new table system with a modular sculptural leg that offers unlimited possibilities. The leg’s reversible geometry allows for creating an infinite number of table base compositions as well as multiple matching table top shapes and dimensions in a variety of materials. The Tako chair is a sleek modern chair with an organic vibe. Made of soft touch medium density integral polyurethane foam, Tako has a sculptural-shaped backrest, whose organic geometry flows fluently into the geometry of the chair’s wooden legs, producing one sleek form made from two different materials. Tako is also available in finished premium leather and fabric. Both Tako and Mac’s Table were exhibited in a variety of finishes and colors at the Salone.

The exhibition was held from April 8 – 13 at Fiera Rho in Milan. Truly international in scope, the Salone welcomed a total of 311,781 members of the trade, of which 205,464 were from other countries than the host country of Italy, with an additional 39,000 members of the general public and over 6,000 communications professionals also attending.
